Questions about offline computing and data

What do I need to run an AI with no internet?

Survival LLM runs on an Apple Silicon Mac or a 64-bit Windows PC. 16 GB of memory runs a small model and 32 GB or more runs a larger one, plus disk space for the model and its offline library.

How should I back up important files for an emergency?

A common rule is three copies, on two kinds of storage, with one kept somewhere else. Keep an encrypted USB drive of family documents in the go-bag.

How much storage does the offline library need?

Survival LLM's full library is about 19 GB installed and its Essentials library about 3 GB, plus 6 to 80 GB for the AI model, according to the project.

Free: printable checklists and prep spreadsheets, including a water and food calculator and a power budget. For answers with no internet: Survival LLM.
